We have organized leagues and lessons for most every age group. Our full time tennis pros Dwayne Thomas, Head Pro/Junior Director or Jonathan Parks, Assistant Pro will work with your young tennis star on a one on one basis or in a group setting. With 16 tennis courts we have developed a great tennis program .
USTA Jr. Team Tennis (Co-ed) is a program of team match play for boys and girls, ages 5 to 18, who want to play on a team. The teams are comprised of players of similar age and skill, and they compete against other club teams from around the area.
League division are:18 & under, 14 & under, 12 & under, 10U-60' or 8U-36'.
The focus will be on Fun, Building hand-eye coordination, ball & motor control skills, stoke production, rally skills and games. Children need to have a good attention span. We will use the USTA 8U format of modified equipment, serving and scoring. This will all take place on a 36 foot - short court with smaller nets & red/yellow felt low compression balls. Our 7 & 8 yr olds will participate in our USTA 8U Jr. Tennis League Program on Sunday's. Class will be held on a 60-foot court using orange/yellow low compression balls. Serving and playing points (singles & doubles) are included along with understanding the rules of the game, scoring and playing a tie-breaker. These players also compete in our USTA 10U Jr. Tennis League Program at the beginner level and will start to enter USTA 10U Tournaments for Match play experience as there skills improve - (Racquet Size 23"- 25") Junior Development GroupGreen Dot / Yellow Ball 78' Court ages 10+ yrs old - skill level basedMonday 4:30 - 6pm Wednesday 4:30 - 6pmSaturday 9:00 - 10:30amThis group is for the Adv Beginner to Intermediate student ages 10 - 16 who have acquired the basic skills of groundstrokes, volley and serve. Focus is on refining stroke mechanics, footwork, shot selection along with sportsmanship. The goal is to help each player improve and to be more consistent during competitive play. A combination of challenging drills & match play will be used to improve upon game fundamentals, strategy, spin, depth & placement during competition. A mix of players compete in NC/USTA tournaments (L5/Futures or L4) for competitive match play development.
WSRC Competitive Player Group
(skill based / pre-approval by Dwayne or Jonathan)
Tuesday & Thursday 4:30pm - 6:30pm
This Group is for the competitive tournament player who is looking to achieve a state ranking or higher. Players are at least 12 years of age an compete in tournaments (8+ a year) on a regular basis and participate on their school team. Selection is based on tournament experience, stroke technique, attitude, work ethic and discipline. Focus will be on stroke production & mechanics, strategy, tactics, match play and conditioning (30 min.) to improve performance during competitive play.
